What is Saffron?
Saffron is a spice derived from the flower of Crocus Sativus, commonly known as the "saffron crocus". Due to it’s labor-intensive harvesting process, saffron is the world's most expensive spice and is highly sought after for its unique flavor, color, and aroma. This spice has been used for thousands of years and has had a long history in both culinary and medicinal uses.

How Saffron is made

1
Bulbs Growing
To grow the flowers that will later produce saffron threads of the highest quality, specific soil composition, climate conditions, and farming techniques have to be met.

2
Hand Picked Harvest
To preserve the delicate stigmas, flowers are picked one by one with expert hands. It takes around 220.000 flowers to make 1 Kg of saffron.

3
Refining
After harvest, the flowers and unwanted waste are removed, leaving only the purest flesh of the threads. After a period of dehydration, saffron is ready to be packed.
